Volunteering Opportunities & Conservation Holidays
Volunteering with BTCV International gives you a chance to change the world, enjoy the holiday of a lifetime, and have fun too.
Be a Volunteer Officer with BTCV International
Most of BTCV International’s work gives opportunities for Volunteer Officers to help us achieve more.
Volunteer Officers or VOs are people who offer a regular amount of time to work with BTCV. They help to organise BTCV and its projects, so that more people can get involved. VOs can be office based, site based or home based.

International Conservation Holidays
BTCV International holidays are always a unique and amazing experience for you - but they're even more than just holidays, they’re an important part of our wider development aims.
Because we’re well known in the UK for our leading position as an environmental volunteering organisation, our experience is increasingly sought in a range of situations throughout the world.
Although we’re not a holiday company or a commercial gap-year experience provider, we’ll make sure that you will have the trip of a lifetime wherever you go.

Creating holidays to meet local needs
Before creating any holiday we work hard to ensure the project reflects local environmental and social needs. One way we do this is by always working with local partners - these can range from government organisations, to charities, to small community groups.
Rather than insisting on package-tour type services, we encourage our partners to define their own goals and project outcomes. We work with them to create unique holidays for you.
The holidays themselves are often used as models and training opportunities for our partners as well as providing support in achieving practical management aims.
As well as ensuring the value and sustainability of the work, this partnership approach leads to unique experiences, magical memories and some things that even surprise us!
Who leads BTCV International Holidays?
All our holidays have trained and experienced leaders, many from the UK who give their time voluntarily to support BTCV International's development work.
Some of our partners have developed their own programmes and have their own trained leaders. In many cases this has been as a consequence of our partnership. Some of these organisations are accredited by the Conservation Volunteers Alliance, or have been assessed or trained by BTCV to ensure the holidays are safe and satisfying.
What your holiday pays for
The price of the holiday includes our cost of running the programme, full insurance while you’re with us, local costs for having you there and a contribution to the partners to run the project.
