Local Training Courses
We run regular programmes of training courses in many parts of the seven counties. We provide both short course training, which lasts one or two days, as well as longer courses. All long courses lead to externally accedited qualifications, whilst the short courses offer this as an option to those that want it.
Long Course Training
In Eartham (near Chichester in West Sussex), we deliver training programmes that lead to a City and Guilds Diploma (Level 1) in Work-based Land-based Operations, or a City and Guilds Diploma (both Levels 2 and 3) in Work-based Practical Environmental Conservation. Further details about these can be found here.
Short Course Training
Our one and two day training courses cover a wide range of practical, organisational and ecological subjects. The full programme is shown below.
Almost all of our one and two day training courses are now delivered under our Investors in Quality Licence from the NCFE. The NCFE is a National Awarding Body. It’s your guarantee that every BTCV training course is delivered to a recognised, external quality standard. It also enables us to provide an optional, assessed and nationally recognised certificate to the learners that attend these courses.
Between July 2008 and June 2010, we ran 19, one and two day training courses locally. The feedback from those attending them indicated that 98% rated their overall learning experience as either "excellent" or "good".
Short Course Training Programme
We add new courses to the programme as and when they're arranged; this is often done at quite short notice, so do check back frequently.
Most of our training courses cost £80 a day to attend, (£140 for a two day course). A discounted cost of £72 (£126) is available to anyone who's volunteered with BTCV in the past six months, or for a group that's a member of the BTCV Community. In addition, we're sometimes able to access additional resources to run certain courses, which enables us to then offer additional discounts. This is why some courses are available to some people at lower prices. All prices include VAT.
