Support for Local Community Groups
As well as running practical projects for volunteers to take part in, a big part of our work locally is support existing, local community groups, to help them to improve how they do things or tackle a wider range of activities.
We also set up new community groups from scratch, often with the aim of enabling them to function independently of BTCV. This ensures that they will remain sustainable in future and lets us direct our resources elsewhere. We are especially proud that there are many, many groups locally that were originally set up in this way.
We provide support to all sorts of local organisations, including conservation volunteer, friends of and special interest groups, as well as residents' associations and schools. Our support services include the following:
- Community consultation
- Volunteer recruitment
- Bespoke training
- On-site practical support
- Tool & equipment loan
- Ecological advice
- Funding advice
- Forums and get togethers
- Group 'good practice' reviews
- Insurance
- Heath & safety guidence
- A national membership network
