Background to the project

The Singleton Environment Centre project was many years in the planning.

Ground work at the site site in 2007 with the offical sod turning ceremony attended by all the partners in the project.

In June 2007 the Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Rita Hawes, marked the start of construction by cutting the first sod at the site in front of local community representatives and funders.

Construction of the building was completed by the end 2007, with ground works and internal fit out of the centre completed by April 2008.
