Health and Safety

Safety sign

Health and Safety is everyone's responsibility!

At BTCV, we take Health and Safety seriously. International Conservation Projects of any sort create extra hazards that can affect you and those around you. All BTCV's activities have been subject to a thorough risk assessment process and have a risk management plan in place - this is available for anyone involved in the project to inspect.

Good planning and clear division of responsibility is critical to achieving effective responses in the event of things not going as they should. Established general Contingency and Incident & Emergency plans are in place, each supported by further project specific plans.

On all BTCV International Holidays, you'll receive a Safety Briefing by the leader before commencing any work. The health and safety of yourself, the group and others around are dependent on everyone following the straightforward, commonsense rules established. As with any overseas conservation activities anywhere, your personal insurance cover is also dependent on this.

If you have any concerns about safety at any time, you should speak to the project leader immediately.
