Green Flag Community Award

The Green Flag Community Award is the mark of quality for community run greenspaces within the Green Flag Award scheme, the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The scheme began in 1996 as a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the country. It was also seen as a way of encouraging others to achieve the same high environmental standards, creating a benchmark of quality in public green spaces.

BTCV has joined Keep Britain Tidy and GreenSpace to work with Department for Communities and Local Government, to develop and extend community participation within the Awards.

We now have an advocate that can help community groups in the South East to apply (or reapply) for a Green Flag Community Award. If you're a member of a local community group that has responsibility for the management of a community greenspace, then you could apply for an Award to recognise the importance of the work you do. So please contact us for more information; we'd love to hear from you.
