Running a Green Gym under licence

Many organisations have expressed an interest in running Green Gym groups, and have approached BTCV for guidance and training.

We believe that there is sufficient demand for BTCV to offer a licence agreement. This will enable organisations to run Green Gym groups to the high standard that we have achieved in our own projects. It is our aim that these licenced groups become self-sustaining community groups.

The Green Gym licence agreement

A Licence Agreement provides the framework for an organisation to run a Green Gym project. BTCV provides a high level of support to help them start up and run a Green Gym project to our standards.

Under the Licence Agreement organisations will have the right to use the Green Gym name, and will receive guidance and, if necessary, training on how to run a Green Gym. The Licence Agreement may be renewed annually by mutual agreement.

We expect licensed organisations to run at least one Green Gym group once or twice a week to undertake practical conservation or gardening work in a defined area.

We ask them to have a written plan for how they intend to set up their group and where it will work.

Potential licensees must ensure that they have sufficient resources to run a Green Gym. This should include staff or volunteers available for two days a week, and finances to cover the running costs, and the costs of BTCV support.

When the Licence Agreement has been approved and signed, the Green Gym licensee will receive a Start-up Pack, training for you're their group leader, support at meetings, consultancy services and insurance.
