The very first one was set up in Oxfordshire in 1998. There are now around 95 in the UK, altough there are more Green Gyms in Oxfordshire than in any other county. We're hoping to be able to open a new one in 2008 in Kidlington.
2008 saw the Green Gym celebrate its 10th birthday. All five of the Oxfordshire Green Gyms came together for a ‘mega project’ at the Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve in Oxfordshire in March. A special lunch and reception for members of all the Green Gyms in the UK was also hosted by BTCV at the Cafe Royal in London during the same month. Green Gym 10th Anniversary Lunch.
