Training with BTCV Dorset

    BTCV Dorset offers a range of work based training courses to help you develop your skills and interests. You can either study with us during practical task days, or we may be able to find you suitable placements closer to home.

    With all of the courses listed below, once you have been enroled you will be given a blank portfolio which will have the course details and standards in it (these are the aims and objectives you must work to in order to achieve the qualification). You will then gain practical experience on volunteer days, and will gain evidence from these days to go into your portfolio, for example pictures taken, or work logs of your days activities. You will be supported by a dedicated tutor throughout your study time with us who will help you build your evidence and portfolio.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Work Based Environmental Conservation

    This course is completed within 57, six hour days (342 Guided Learning Hours). The qualification is tailored to you, but could cover: Monitoring and maintaining health and safety, Conduct and report on a field survey for animals, Produce management plans for environmental Sites and Co-ordinate and oversee habitat management work.

  • Level 1 Award or Certificate in Environmental and Conservation Skills The Award can be completed within 16, six hour days (95 Guided Learning Hours) and the Certificate within 28, six hour days (170 Guided Learning Hours). Both of these qualifications are tailored to you, but could cover: Practical Skills for Woodland Areas, Prepare and erect Post & Timber fencing, Practical Skills for Dry Stone Walling. The tutor on this course contributed a lot of work to the learner portfolio.
