BTCV and Big Tidy Up

BTCV Staff and volunteers across England have been supporting the Keep Britain Tidy, Big Tidy Up campaign since its launch in September 2008. The campaign funded by Defra encourages people to tidy up their local area by organising tidy up events.

On 27-28 January 2010 as part of the Leeds "Year of Volunteering" 19 volunteers concentrate on a half-mile strip of woodland along the towpath of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The woodland is on a steep slope, sloping downward from the towpath towards the River Aire. The area was badly littered, particularly with cans and bottles. BTCV volunteers worked alongside Aire Action, British Waterways and Leeds City Council, and the local climbing group who gave assistance to help deal with the terrain safely.
"Let's hope the users of the canal understand the effort that has gone into this tidy up, and do their bit to keep it in the proper condition."
If you would like to do something positive to keep your local area looking clean and green then join the Big Tidy Up campaign today and help make a difference.
