*** NEW *** Great Yarmouth Green Gym starts this week
BTCV is delighted to have received funding from The Peoples Health Trust which will help us to improve the health & wellbeing of people in Great Yarmouth.
Anyone over 16 can join in, and the scheme is aimed at people who have no experience of working outside in green spaces. People with physical, sensory or learning difficulties, mental health or long-term medical conditions are welcome. A minibus collects volunteers from pick-up points across the town to take them to the site, and returns them to the same place afterwards.
One of the main sites where the Green Gym will be working is Beacon Park, thanks to support from Great Yarmouth Borough Council. Mark Thompson, their Cabinet member for Environment, told us “ We’re really pleased a Green Gym has come to Great Yarmouth, it’s a great opportunity to carry out environmental improvements at the same time as helping people to better health”.

What is a Green Gym?
Green Gyms (and the North Norfolk Workout Project) are a chance to get active, improve your fitness and well-being and improve your local environment.
Thney are a regular free session of practical conservation activity, offering a chance to 'work-out' in the great outdoors (without a rowing machine in sight) and learn traditional skills with an experienced leader.
Green Gyms aim to improve physical fitness - and boost self-confidence and wellbeing - as well as benefiting the local area.

Parnwell Pride Project
Further afield in north Cambridgeshire, BTCV runs a project to improve the local environment and quality of life in the Parnwell Estate, Peterborough, by working with a newly-formed community group.
This 3-year programme will enable us to support the local residents while they gain the skills and experience to take over managemet of their local green spaces themselves.
