This event is part of BTCV's Big Green Weekend, which is three fun filled days of action encompassing events like ours across the UK and Europe and our Green Heroes awards. Read on to find out more about our event or click here to find out other ways to join in with the Big Green Weekend.
BTCV Hollybush are hosting one of BTCV's Big Green Weekend events over 22nd-23rd October and we'd love you to come down and join us!
There will be environmental activities for the whole family - craft, activity and demonstration stalls, a garden trail, mosaicing, a bicycle-powered smoothie-maker and organic hot food and refreshments. We will also be running three volunteering tasks out in the community each day - perfect as a taster day if you've never tried it or never have the time during the week!
For more information or to register for the tasks, contact Jess Kandola on 0113 274 2335 or leeds@btcv.org.uk.
You can also join in with BTCV's Tree-sure hunt to explore your environment, have fun and use our online resources to raise money for BTCV. All you need is our handy guide and some woodland or a local park and you can take part in our sponsored tree spotting challenge. Register online now - http://www2.btcv.org.uk/display/home
We held our annual Big Volunteers Party on Thursday 28th July 2011 to say thank you for all our volunteers' hard work! The theme of the evening was 'Go Green', and volunteers enjoyed music, karaoke, a buffet and the famous Bake-Off in their very best green outfits!
Hollybush held a really successful stall at the 31st Kirkstall Festival on Saturday 9th July. We hosted a plant sale, a cake stall and environmental activities, and had a lot of interest in the work we do.
As well as a variety of stalls, the Abbey grounds were full of performers, music and food. There was also a bird of prey demonstration, majorettes, Punch & Judy, a fairground, a Tea Dance Marquee, refreshment marquee, music and a youth stage.
BTCV Hollybush held a stall at the Volition Marketplace event on the 30th June. The focus of the event was Putting People First, including:
• Choice & control (personal budgets, self directed support, person-centred planning) • Early intervention & prevention • Universal services (including information, advice, advocacy) • Social capital (community networks, co-production, social impact bonds, user-led organisations) • Mental health and wellbeing
It was a great event - we had a busy stall with a lot of interest in our new Thursday group!
